This auction is for a truly stunning example of a highly pyritised ammonite fossil of the species Oxynoticeras lymense from the world famous Jurassic Coast beach of Charmouth, Dorset UK. The fossil measures 81mm (3 3/16 inches) across which is very large for this species. It is incredibly well preserved on both sides with absolutely stunning detail in the suture lines and some of the very best ribbing I have seen on this species. The keel is near perfect and includes the extra extended line which is normally worn away which is very hard to find on this species. There is also some interesting patholoical deformity which gives a kink to the keel which I have never seen before. Oxynoticeras are very beautiful and unique ammonites; especially pyritised examples from this location. Another stunner. Around 195 million years old, this fossil would make a wonderful addition to any collection. I offer combined shipping for any of my items, just let me know and I will send a combined shipping invoice for multiple purchases Please take some time to check out my other items and to add me to your favourites list .
