Bad Dog Designs Vintage Counter Nixie tube clock This is a truly original piece, take a 1970's bit of test equipment, reduce it in depth and fill the insides with a modern microprocessor but retain the original Nixie tubes to create a superb clock that will get noticed! This is not something new made to look old, it is a genuine vintage bit of test kit that has had more than a few hours lavished on it.. It does have a few knocks and marks, it's 35+ years old! The Nixie tube is what used to be used before LED / LCD displays were invented, it has a unique warm glow that just simply isn't used anymore - think Valves and Hifi. It is mesmerizing the way the digits glow and fade from one number to the next. I suggest you look here /watch?v=jBzm0kGjmqU to see it in action. Every now and again it will randomly cycle all the digits to prevent tube burn and alternate between the time and date. It is a fully functional clock - desk / shelf or wall mounting. The project started out with an old Advance instruments counter that contained the Nixie tubes. You can see in one of the pictures the size of the original counter! It has been professionally machined down to size and re-assembled - not a hacksaw in the shed type of job! The Electronics inside are from the superb PV electronics, one of the most functional Nixie clock kits out there read more
