Teec Nos Pos hand woven wool rug by Navajo weaver Sadie Kee using a loom that is commonly placed outside the family's Hogan. The rug, as an area is finished, is rolled up at the bottom so the weaver must remember the design to be replicated throughout the rug. Teec Nos Pos rugs are always surrounded by a wide border and filled with an exuberant variety of motifs. And a Teec Nos Pos rug is a bold, busy, exciting design including a variety of colors. This is a very large rug and is 4 1/2" wide and 5' 10" tall. The wide border resembling large "H's" is also typical of a Teec Nos Pos rug. The colors in this rug include black, burgundy, grey, rose, white and turquoise. Of all of the styles of Navajo rugs, this is my very favorite. Weaving is an art form indigenous to the area where rugs are woven. No two rugs are the same and they reflect the very individual style of the weaver. This rug was won at an auction of Native American art through an auction house from Bloomfield, NM. The tape that was on the rug at one time included the name of the weaver, Sadie Kee. The original retail price of the rug was $8800.00. This price of a Teec Nos Pos rug is justified because of the size and the intricate pattern within the rug. Take this opportunity to own a premier Navajo rug. Also check out the other Native American art that I will be listing on read more
