Hello and welcome! Tuscany Books offers: One rare example of early fine printing, an illustrated leaf from from the first Latin edition of :Schedel,H. Liber cronicarum. Augsburg: Johannes Schensperger, 1497. It is listed as number S-308 in Goff. The woodcuts were designed by Michael Wohlgemuth (1434-1519) and Wilhelm Pleydenwurff (1460-94). It is highly likely that their apprentice, Albrecht Duerer (1471-1528) collaborated on some of the illustrations. Please check out our other listings offered on ebay. The literal meaning of the Latin word incunabulum is "infantâe(tm)s cradle" and alludes to the fact that printing at that time was in its infancy. The fact that a book was printed before 1500 is significant in that its value is much greater than if it had been printed after 1501. Condition of leaf: On hand-made, water-marked paper (globe with staff and cross) in good condition with evidence of aging: soiling, staining or spotting, edge flaws, like short tears, original paper flaws, old edge repairs, browning, etc.We will mention flaws that cannot be seen on the photograph.
