INDIA A PASSAGE FROM INDIA TO ENGLAND IN 1873 A.H.WALKER, ANGLO/INDIAN NAIVE SCHOOL This very interesting series of naive watercolours is taken from a disbound Victorian album. They are mostly drawings of a voyage back to England in 1873 by A.H.Walker, probably an Indian civil servant, working near Jubbulpore in the interior, the not long after the Indian Mutiny, and depict scenes en route covering one of |Jubbelpore itself and then from Calcutta, down the Eastern coast of India including Madras, then Ceylon, the Malabar coast of Kerala, Bombay, across to Aden and up the Red Sea to Suez, which had only recently been opened in 1869. It does not cover beyond Alexandria.
