Here we have for sale a genuine 1978 or 1979 8k static RAM board. It is built in the "S-100" form factor, typically called "Altair compatible" in the lingo of the day. The manufacturer was a company that used the name "Industrial Micro Systems". Have a look at copies of Byte magazine from 1978 or 1979 at the Internet Archive. You'll see ads for this board, usually less than a half page. This is an AS-IS, WHERE-IS FINAL SALE, NO RETURNS OF ANY KIND FOR ANY REASON OF ANY KIND.Hence the magic Ebay phrase "For parts or not working".It's used. The discoloration visible under the power-supply regulators on the solder side of the circuit board does suggest that it probably worked long enough for the heat to darken the green mask paint enough to see. It was removed from service and replaced around 1982 or so by a 64k board that consumed VASTLY less power. There are a few of the 2102 RAM chips missing at the upper-left corner of the 64-chip array. Most of them are the original Fairchild "2102L1PC" devices. But there's a light-gray Intel-made device in one socket, and three made by Synertek next to the five empty sockets. The Fairchild devices are all dated from mid-1978. The four "7805T" voltage regulators are dated the 15th week of 1978, so this board can't be any older than that. The dust layer was probably acquired while it was in use. Can' read more
