THE INFANT'S LIBRARY BOOK 11 Published by John Marshall No. 4 Aldermary Churchyard, London. No date but c 1801 making this the almost certainly the first or a very early edition. John Marshall started publishing his Infant's Library series after 1799 and the set went through many printings, some of the later examples being hand-coloured. This copy can be dated by the advertisments for the Picture Magazine ("just published"), which was first printed in 1800 and the "twenty-sixth number" of the Children's Magazine, a monthly publication first printed in 1799 In the original pink boards with title labels to the front and back. Complete with the original endpapers and 32 printed pages (which include the title page and 3 pages of publisher's adverts). The book measures 5.9cm by 4.8cm. The boards are in very good plus condition. There is some mild cracking to the paper on the bottom half of the spine and a tiny (2mm) hole near to the top of the spine. However, the spine is firm and intact. Internally the pages are clean and in excellent condition. No inscriptions, marks or blemishes. Small creases to the corners of two pages. A remarkably well preserved copy of a scarce book. In far better condition than usually found.
