This auction will feature a most attractive 'INFILL SMOOTHER PLANE'. No maker name as is customary on infills. Will say a date of 1850's to 1880. Blade is stamped to 'Thos Ibbostson & Co' . Sole measures 8 1/4 inches by 2 3/8 wide. Nicely overstuffed with walnut that has aged to a beautiful luster. Wood area behind blade has an inlay - (see photo) acutally looks like it might have been done at the time the plane was made - certainly old. Shapely front knob and rear closed handle with no damage - good spur. Overall shows minor age spots and light surface scratches - much less than usually found. In general shows little use and has been respectully cared for over the last 130 or so years.
