This is a very interesting Russian sword and scabbard. It is in excellent condition, but I do not know when it was made, as it is completely unmarked. It may be relatively modern, but the grip in particular is a nice rayskin that I have not seen on modern Russian swords. The style is certainly traditional, and it could possibly date back to Czarist times, but I simply do not know. Perhaps someone who is more knowledgeable about Russian swords can tell me.The sword is well made. It has an extremely attractive hilt, with a rayskin wrapped grip with twisted wire wrapping. The hist is a beautiful brass, with two swept bars to the guard, and two thin langets. The blade is completely plain, and is straight. It has a single fuller that runs to the point. The blade is 30 inches long, so may be a bit long for a cadet sword, although it is pretty narrow- about 2/3 of an inch wide. It is in excellent shape. The scabbard appears to be nickled, and is in excellent shape. The sword is 35 1/2 inches long overall. There is a tiny bend in one branch of the guard which is really barely noticeable, except on close examination.As I said, I have no idea what the precise identification is on this sword. If it had an anchor on the blade, then I would guess it to be Naval, as the hilt is very similar to Russian Naval swords. It is lightly made, so it could read more
