Name: Iridescent Goethite (Turgite) Location: Lincoln County, Georgia - Graves Mountain MineSize: 2 1/8" x 1 3/8" x 1 5/8" This is a rare color from Graves Mountain. I've collected thousands of goethite specimens from this mine for over 20 years and have found that the deep crimson red is rare to find. This electric color of red, orange and gold is a excellent specimen and a prize to add for the Graves Mountain Mine collector. Graves Mountain Turgite is both goethite and hematite mixed in the regrowth process. Turgite from Graves Mountain are notable for their incredible iridescence with their shimmering neon greens, blues, purples, pinks, golds, silvers, reds and the rarest being orange. Turgite from this mine went through a massive alteration and produced an itermediate between hemitite and goethite which makes it impossible to determine which mineral is more dominate.
