PETERSON K&P LONDON MADE 20383 SHS [180] / 65This early Peterson made in their London workshop is distinctly hallmarked for 1951. The silver band received a hallmark from the London assayer. It is in good condition with a very sound and in-round tobacco chamber, but the bowl exterior shows some wear, with dings around the rim's outer edge.This pipe is a very scarce example of a Peterson from the 1950s or '60s that we can definitively date. The London workshop made a very limited number of pipes with silver mounts, and back in Dublin the primary workshop did not hallmark their silver mounts until 1969.This Peterson pipe is one of a very large number of specimens I acquired to examine, to document and to photograph for the upcoming book on the Irish pipe making company Kapp & Peterson.
