Isaac Asimov - Foundation - First Edition Gnome Press, New York., 1951. Stated "First Edition" in first state binding of blue cloth with red lettering, sheets bulk 1.9 cm across the top; black dustjacket with red, blue white and yellow, by Kyle. Foundation is the first novel in Isaac Asimov's Foundation Trilogy (later expanded into The Foundation Series) which won the one-time Hugo Award for "Best All-Time Series" in 1966. One of Asimov's earliest and best known works, this novel is difficult to find in collectable condition. Make sure to take a look at Foundation and Empire, and Second Foundation which I am also listing this week. The book is near fine conditon, with some bumping to the corners and light scuffing to the top and bottom of the front board. It is the correct first state, Currey priority 'A', with the spiral galaxy on the cover and red lettering. Internally the book is flawless, no previous owner names or markings of any kind. The jacket is in near fine condition as well. It is the second state of the jacket, with two titles listed on the rear as opposed to three. It retains the $2.75 original price on the front flap. There is a small closed tear at the bottom of the spine and some light scuffing on the back panel.
