Hi, you are bidding on a rare letter from the Congregation Ohan Shalom, in Albany New York from Rabbi Solomon I. Moeson, asking Isidor Kaufman's son, Dr. Edward Kaufman for permission to use one of his father's paintings for Rosh Hashana (The Jewish New Year). The painting the synagogue was asking permission for was called the Sabbath Messenger. The front page is the greeting card that was to be sent out to members of the Congregation. On the back is the letter from the Rabbi asking Isidor Kaufman's son for permission to use his fathers painting for that purpose. This is an extremely rare and important Jewish document from the New York community from 1943. Isidor Kaufman's paintings sell up to $500,000.00!!! This is an excellent historical American Jewish document that involves Isidor Kaufman, who is an extremely important Jewish painter! The size of the letter is 8.5X11 inches. The document was originally folded probably to mail out to Isidor Kaufman's son, Edward. Overall, the document is in good shape for its age. This is truely a historical Jewish treasure and belongs in a museum collection or a serious Judaica collection! Good luck, Shipping will be determined after auction, insurance included in final cost!
