WWI VINTAGE GERMAN MAGAZINES....... 6 Issues'SIMPLICISSIMUS'Size : 15" x11" Approx. total 72pp.Six original copies of the infamous German satirical weekly magazine, from the early years of the Great War. Stapled together, the dates are rather random and are as follows :- 17th November 1914 ; 16th March 1915 ; 7th Sept 1915 ; 1st Feb 1916 ; 29th Feb 1916 ; 14th March 1916.This fascinating publication employed talented artists & contributors from it's beginnings in1896. Upon entry into WWI it dulled it's tone of domestic satire and began supporting the war effort.These issues incude artwork by T.H. Heine, Erich Schilling, Gulbransson, Petersen, Wilhelm Schulz, Eduard Thony & Otto Lendecke plus articles, caricatures and attractive period advertisements.Condition : (Please see my photos).... Page edges are browning & rather chipped, and have minor tears and dog-ears.... Text and illustration is complete throughout.... Staples are rusted.... Magazines are showing obvious signs of age but are clean, complete, intact & readable.These scarce magazines reflect the opinion of the popular press during WWI. I am sure that they would be a valuable addition to the library of any student of Germany's social / political history.
