0243 Italian Artist Silver Filigree and Plique-A-Jour Enamel Butterfly Brooch In these uncertain times, it pays to invest in quality. This Italian butterfly is delicate, complex, & tough - much like the contemporary woman! The lozenge mark indicates that the brooch was made in the post-war period of 1944 - 1968, most likely in the city of Sienna. It is marked 800, a harder alloy of silver, allowing the delicate filigree to stand the test of time. The Plique-A-Jour enameling technique allows the light to pass through it resulting in a sublime, effervescent effect of a butterfly that's about to fly away! Just gorgeous! The enamel & gold wash are intact, the clasp is secure and the pin is sharp. This is a beautiful collectors item and great investment that is sure to grow in value over time. The style of the brooch is surprisingly contemporary, even trendy and stylish, while still offering a lasting value, and a great investment. A perfect gift!
