Italian States - Kingdom of Italy. 40 Lire, 1810-M (Milan). Fr-5; KM-C12; Pagani-13; Gig-75. Napoleon I. Head left. Reverse: Crowned and mantled arms. Well struck with original mint luster. Rare this nice. Choice Almost Uncirculated to Uncirculated. . The kingdom of Italy was an artificial entity established by Napoleon as a buffer state against Austria. It consisted of Lombardy, Venetia, Modena, and Ancona of the Papal States. The actual ruler was Eugene de Beauharnais, stepson of Napoleon and viceroy of the kingdom.
