This is a genuine ww2 officer's tropical jacket, called Sahariana.It is genuine ww2! These were widely used in the Northern African theatre, but also on other places in the mediterean theater,The sahariana is in excellent conditions, no holes, no tears or whatsoever. It is made of a heavy, brownish-khaki colored, cotton material. This color is not unusual, the tropical Sahariane were produced in a wide range of color. Going from sand color, reddish sand color, brownish kakhi, to light green and white. In general, the colors used to fade pretty fast in the sun light (see Osprey's: The Italian army in ww2, tome 2) It is complete with belt, all wooden buttons and detachable shoulderboards .I believe it is a privately purchased officer's jacket, since the buttons are not the standard pattern and the quality of the fabricis better than on the EM sahariane. Three pronged type cape on the back of the jacket.Over the left pocket the jackets sports the rank of 2nd lieutenant.This position for the rank stripes was pretty popular on tropical jackets, especially later in the war (41 on untill RSI period).The jacket is a meduim size, shoulders width ~ 45 cm.On the collar are the orange colored collar tabs of the LIVORNO infantry division.This divison was on garrison duty on Sicily.It conducted a sucesfull counter attack on the Allied invasion read more
