This is a very nice 19th century gouge chisel marked "J.B. ADDIS & SONS SHEFFIELD ENGLAND 10 PRIZE METALS". A very nice flat sweep gouge chisel with a slight arch near the cutting edge of the chisel giving the user a better cutting position, sometimes call a curved front gouge. The steel measure 4.1" long from the sharp cutting edge (out-channel) to the handle. The handle has 2 minor grain splits noted, nice looking, very solid, some wear on the end of the handle. The steel is very clean, no rust, sharp, ready to use. A top quality chisel that has lasted many years!
