This auction is for an original J.& E. Norton of Bennington Vermont 2 Gallon stoneware jug with the BENNY BLUE Bird . This Blue bird is a favorite among collectors. The specifics: This jug was made between 1850-1859. It stands a full 14 inches high. And 29 inches in circumferance. The jug has its original cork (some of it is missing-please refer to picture below). It is very heavy. T are no cracks,hairline or otherwise,repairs,or major damage. The only chip or flake is a small one to the right side of the bird, this chip looks to have been made before the glaze was applied because t is glaze in the chip itself (please refer to picture below w/arrow) This chip is unseen from the front of the jug. T is discoloration probobly from the storage of this jug. ( It has been stored in an unheated barn in New England for at least the past 50 years-until I discovered it and removed it just a few weeks ago) Shipping: The jug will be carefully packaged and shipped fully insured UPS after payment is received in full. PLEASE serious bidders only. I will answer all questions to the best of my ability. NOTE: T seems to be some "pink" showing up on some of the photos- IT IS NOT on the jug!! I believe its just a reflection of the pink shirt I was wearing at the time I took these photos.
