Flow blue was made in England and other countries about 1830 to 1900. The dishes were printed with designs using a cobalt blue coloring. The color flowed from the design to the white body so that the finished piece has a smeared blue design. The dishes were usually made of ironstone china. This is a flow blue plate produced by J and G Meakin in a semi-porcelain flow blue pattern known as Clonial. This pattern was produced in Hanley England in the late 1800's. The plate is marked "Clonial, J&G Meakin, Hanley England Semi Porcelain" This lovely floral pattern is on a 7" plate. The plate has a chip on the edge which I have photographed. The plate shows crazing but displays nicely and would add to any flow blue collection. I prefer Pay Pal but Money orders and Personal Checks (with time to clear) are accepted. Buyer to pay shipping of $10.00 and insurance costs. The insurance amount will be calculated at the end of auction. I prefer to ship Priority Mail but am willing to consider buyer's preferences.
