An original gouache painting of Dunkery Beacon, Exmoor by Frederick John Widgery (his signature is in the bottom left hand corner). The artist lived from 1861 - 1942 and as a painter he enjoyed considerable success and is best remembered for his watercolours of Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Devon coastline. His reputation spread to America, Australia and other places overseas, and even now, there is a healthy trade for his paintings. This painting has label on the back which reads ' Chas L. Beer. Fine art dealer. Practical frame maker. 25 Torbay Road, Paignton. Dunkery Beacon, Exmoor by F. J. Widgery 'I have another F.J. Widgery painting on the listings (Hay Tor). They are a pair so are the same size and have the same gold frames and mounts.Dimensions : Frame - 45 x 34 cm. Painting - 28 x 17.5 cmCondition : The painting is in excellent condition as is the mount. The frame has a few small marks commensurate with it's age.
