Jacques Jobb é -Duval (French, 1854 - c.1940) "Au Bord de la Riviere", oil on canvas, signed lower right, offered without reserve. We are on the move! Due to a new job in the South West, we are in the sad position of being forced to sell a flat absolutely full of paintings. Hung on walls, stacked up in corners, behind the sofa, piled on top of wardrobes - if there was a space, it was filled with paintings! Some of these I bought decades ago, others more recently - but they have all been photographed, and moved to a storage unit where at least there is room to pack them up and store them prior to shipping. Most are pet projects - paintings of interest and potential which I have promised myself to research, and after years in some cases, they remain gathering dust - but now everything's got to go in a matter of weeks - so they will be listed as fast as my two fingers can type in the next few weeks. This is a particularly splendid example of the work of Jacques Jobb é-Duval, the son of painter Felix Armand Marie Jobb é-Duval . He is best known for his landscapes which are in some respects similar to the Barbizon school. It is a wonderful bright sunny landscape showing a river lazily passing by behind the sunlit trees.
