This auction is for an ORIGINAL McKee jadeite roman archspice shaker from what I am told is from the 1930s, in SCRIPT lettering. I am no expert on this type of glass and this is the firstpiece of McKee jadeite I have ever owned and I can’t believe how beautiful it is. The white swirls mixed in the glass are just stunning on this piece. I tried to show off their beauty with some extra pictures, but the pictures don’t do this piece justice. OK…the good news is this shaker is in beautiful condition with no flaws. There is some light wear on the four corners of the bottom from years of use, and a very little bit of roughness around the inside edge of the rim, which I was told is common with these shakers. The only issue with this piece is that the black color has worn off from the scripted “Spice” lettering on front of shaker. You can still see the lettering on the shaker, as shown in pictures, because I believe the words are ever so slightly engraved into the shaker. But the black color is gone so you can’t see the word “Spice” until you tip the shaker to the side and in the correct light. I would think, because the word “Spice” is lightly engraved, that there would be a way to restore the black without much trouble.
