The Swiss company Jaeger-leCoultre is a world-renowned and innovative clock and watchmaker. Here we offer a handsome and elegant rare example of Jaeger-leCoultre's innovative design in this 8 day skeleton clock with a vertical straight-line movement. The round perspex clock face measures 4-7/8" in diameter and, with the rectangular base, the piece stands approximately 5-5/8" tall. The clock itself weights 1 pound, 2.3 ounces. This highly collectible and desirable Art Deco style clock from the late 1940s or the 1950s comes with its original box, with both the timepiece and the box bearing the model number, "Ref. 238". The clear case is made of Perspex, a transparent thermoplastic acrylic resin developed in 1928. Although this clock is in excellent physical condition, it does not currently run. The mainspring appears to have been overwound; purchaser should have the timepiece professionally adjusted to ensure good working order.
