1.58-2S/N: This is an authorized second printing poster for James Brown at the famed Apollo Theater in New York, 7/28/1966. This reprint was done in 1995, specifically for the fact that James Brown agreed to sign them. Mr. Brown sadly died on Christmas 2006 due to complications with pneumonia. He will be missed and his legacy cannot be ignored, influencing everything from funk, R&B and even moden day hip hop. This poster is signed by the legendary James Brown in black ink. This poster was printed by Colby Press, an old-time “letter press” printer that printed the original poster in 1965. To do this print, they had to find the original steel plate, engraving, and wood black to do it again in the same style format. We contacted Mr. Brown to set up a signing when he was out in California. One day we got a phone call that he wanted to meet us at his hotel in Los Angeles the next day. So we then left San Francisco to meet him at his hotel. Meeting Mr. Brown was, in itself, an extraordinary experience. First, you note that, he calls everyone Mr., Mrs., or Ms., regardless of whether they are a powerful music broker, or the guy who sweeps the floors at night.
