James Dean Collection of 3 Items: Original Photograph with "Mr & Mrs Marcus Winslow" written on the back Trifold Pamphlet brochure about the original James Dean Memorial Foundation 8 1/2 x 11 playbill of Thornton Wilders production"Our Town" that was put on by the Memorial Foundation in Fairmount Indiana, Summer 1956. Okay, is what I know about these items: The James Dean Memorial Foundation was started by a man named Bill Dakota, ( i think?) shortly after the Death of James Dean. T was fighting and bickering and legal actions bouncing off the wall in the 1950's over the use of James Dean photos and movies. Bill started the James Dean Foundation to raise funds to create a statue of James Dean. The location was to be at the, now called, HOLLYWOOD FOREVER CEMETERY, on Santa Monica Boulevard. However, his foundation was shut down basically Because he ran out of money trying to "fight" for the right to run the foundation. The trifold pamphlet is a promo piece which describes the foundation and its purpose. The "playbill" I have is a play that was put on by the foundation to raise funds in 1956. And the Photograph has the name "Mr. & Mrs Marcus Winslow" handwritten on the back. I believe Marcus was his cousin. All 3 pieces are in very good condition. The Trifold has some discoloration on the front on the top....but it doesn't feel serious read more
