James K. Polk, President of the United States, Tennessee Congressman, Speaker of the House of Representatives. Extremely rare double signed book from his library. James K. Polk has signed Debates in Congress. Volume One, 1824-1825 signed on the front board and title page with full dark ink signatures. The book was deaccessioned from the holdings of the Tennessee Historical Society. Because the Tennessee Historical Society collection has been housed for many years at the Tennessee State Library and Archives, TSLA markings appear in the book, although owned until deaccessioning by the Society. The book is in its original binding with the front board detached approximately 6 1/2 by 11 inches. The signatures are excellent plus and the book is complete in itself. Naturally this book comes with a fully descriptive letter of deaccession from the Tennessee Historical Society which gives the title of this particular book signed by the director of the Society and dated 1992. If you collect signed Presidential books then could be a rare addition to your collection. The reserve on this Polk double signed book is much less than a single signed one I had for $1200.00. Good luck and let the market decide what this book is worth today.
