Description : Carte de visite of James M. Mason, (November 3, 1798 - April 28, 1871), United States Representative and Senator from Virginia. Mason drafted the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 and was an advocate of secession. During the Civil War era he served as commissioner of the Confederacy to Great Britain and France and was taken prisoner in the Trent Affair . Nice image, looks like it is taken from a lithograph.
