James Madison and James Monroe SIgned Land Grant on Vellum (Washington DC), December 30, 1811. This document, printed on parchment, is signed by James Madison as President and James Monroe as Secretary of State. Land grant issued to John Purviance of Kentucky stating “He has made full payment for the South West Quarter of Section number Four…of the land lying between the Great Miami river and the Virginia reservation…directed by the act of Congress, entitled 'An act providing for the sale of the Lands of the United States in the Territory north-west of the Ohio, and above the mouth of the Kentucky River.'” Condition: In very good condition, with normal folds, engrossed portions a bit light, but legible, and some scattered light soiling. A spot is in the upper portion of the document, which has been matted out. The right edge of the document has iregular right side, probably from trimming. The white wafer seal is crisp and intact.
