OVERSIZE CABINET CARD JAMES McNEILL WHISTLER ~ FULL-LENGTH PORTRAIT. Rare oversize Cabinet Photograph of James McNeill Whistler. A characteristic full-length portrait is his unconventional elongated day-coat with cape [?] twisted around his shoulder. He sports the trademark beret with a lock of white hair that curls above his forehead. He leans upon his tall walking stick and smugly peering directly at the camera. Image by H.S. Mendelshon Studios, London, albumen sliverprint ca. 8-1/2in x 5in. Image is cracked vertically from top margin to bottom mount and horizontally1/2 inch at top from left margin. Neither crack touches figure. Outer blank margins reduced. His name neatly penned on mount below image. Old clear [archival?] tape repairs on verso with black ink identification in an unknown hand.
