Up for sale is this beautiful floral still life oil on canvas by Jan Hendrik Scheltema. Well-listed artist Scheltema was born in Holland in 1861 and studied at the Royal Academy in Brussels, until he moved to Australia in 1890, where he stayed active. This painting was found in an estate on the North Fork or Long Island, NY. It depicts many chrysanthemums laid out, and is legibly signed at the lower right "J.H. Scheltema". It is 100% original and in excellent condition, with no damage to the surface or the canvas itself. The frame, however, could use a few touch-ups. The canvas measures 29 by 9.5 inches and the frame measures 32.5 by 13 inches. Auction records for J.H. Scheltema range from the high hundreds and quickly climb to $5,000+...
