(And please check out the other beautiful pots that I have on eBay.You are bidding on a wood-fired sushi tray by the gifted Wisconsin potter Jan McKeachie-Johnston.DESCRIPTION: This stellar tray has raised asymmetrical edges and a concave surface with well pronounced carved furrows. There is also one raised shell imprint surrounded by a splash of red shino. The flames of the wood kiln imparted to the surface of the tray beautifully "distressed" mottled brown and white markings- as well as a lovely accumulation of wood ash along its longest side.The sushi tray measures 6 3/8" at its longest and 5 ½" at its widest. It is in mint condition- no chips, cracks or repairs- and has the potter's impressed personal mark on the unglazed underside.This is a no reserve auction.ABOUT JAN McKEACHIE-JOHNSTON: Jan McKeachie is a highly regarded and widely collected studio potter works alongside her husband Randy Johnston at their River Falls, Wisconsin studio. Her work reflects the strong tradition of functional ceramics from England and Japan as exemplified by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada.
