This is a pair Japanese door fittings called hikite. They fit flush into the doors to tansu chest as well as full size standing fusuma and paper shoji doors. They are oval in shape with a chrysanthemum outer edge and a center design of various tea ceremony tools (whisk, natusme, scoop etc). . They are stamped from one piece of iron. overall they are both in fine condition although the orginal orange finish has been reduced (see pictures). They date back to the Taisho Era (1912 -1927). They measure 3 1/4" long by 2 3/4 wide and 3/8" deep 8.29 by 7 by .8 cm)You'll love them.......I gurantee it!
