For auction is an original WW2 Japanese BAYONET for the Arisaka Type 38 and Type 99 rifles . It is almost certainly a vet bring back, maybe from Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, Okinowa, who knows. It will be a nice addition to your historic rifle and/or collection. Note the Nice Leather Frog that came with this bayonet. I dont know too much about Japan bayonets, but this is the info I could find: It was made by the Koishikawa Arsenal, later known as Kokura. Just a couple of seconds with metal polish made the arsenal marking shine out of the dirt. This is one of the early model bayonets with hooked quillon, screws and contoured, birdshead pommel. The release button functions properly. It will mount on a Japanese rifle properly. The factory edge is nick-free and very nice. T is some tarnishing of the blade, but it looks to be all grease and not corrosion T is rust and some pitting on the handle metal. The scabbard could be polished up nicely, as it is dirty, but looks to be very good under the crud. It is in excellent shape and can be polished. It retains the original leather frog, which can also be cleaned and restored nicely. It maintains its structural integrity, except for dryrot of the small buckle strap.
