This auction is for a Japanese Imari Double Fishplate. This decorative antique shamelessly showcases pristine Japanese painting and craftsmanship. The artist constructs the plate around the image of a fish and its mirror image. Each fish contains its own appreciated and individualized artwork. The first fish pictures perched and gliding along a waterway. The second captures the image of a spotted Foo-lion staring up a flowered tree. The backside of the plate contains varied paintings of decorative aquatic plants. The double fishplate stretches 14” long and measures 9” wide.
