I recently bought a house and found several relics in the barn stored in a box. I have one Katana sword. The blade is in good shape, with minor flows and hair-line cracks...please see pictures at website. The handle is black skin wrapped with black cloth and what looks like long-stem flower decorative pieces. The hand guard looks and feels like steel with a ocean wave pattern and two oval holes on either side of the blade. The Scabbard is wrapped in what appears to be fine silk, then has a brass belt mount, then a heavier cord from t to the hand guard. The end of the scabbard has some damage and some threads are loose along the length. If you have suggestions on how I can find out more about my sword please let me know. I have been reasearching swords and will add or revise this listing as my knowledge increases. Thanks for your patience. Update: First to make clear, I AM NOT AN EXPERT ON THIS ITEM. I referenced a guide book and /~steinrl/kanji/kanji1.htm to come to the following conclusions: 1) the tang has jitsu, ju, Fujiwara on it. I could not find reference to the other symbols. 2) The butt is of type Kurijiri 3) Tang is Uba If you are interested in more detail, please email me any questions. Additional Pics available at /sword/sword1.htm This item is being sold as is, with no refunds, so please ask as many questions
