Old Japanese sword. 33 1/2 inches long with 25 inch sharp blade. The sword is 36 inches long with the handle on. This is an old blade. It is not a recent Chinese copy, my father has had this in his collection over 30 years. The blade has almost no rust, just a few tiny spots. There are a few small chips in the blade. There is a beautiful and active temper line. The blade has a good polish and is in excellent shape. There is a heavy, removable blade collar made of brass. There is a heavy tsuba with the design of horses, and there are two metal spacers and a metal piece that goes over the end of the handle. The handle is in fair shape, the end cap is missing and half of the grip is unraveling. The menuki are missing. The tang is signed on both sides, see picture number four and six. The scabbard is wood with a reddish brown paint. There are a few cracks in the wood, but the scabbard is still solidly in one piece. It holds the blade well. This is a no reserve auction.
