He first appeared in 1930 in the highbrow literary magazine, The New Yorker & it was not until 1934 that he appeared in a newspaper comic strip. The Little King never uttered a word much like another character from this period, Henry. The Little King enjoyed life & only wanted to have fun. Unfortunately for toy collectors, his creator did not aggressively pursue marketing opportunities & as a result there is very little to collect. The toy is 4” tall. It worked by pulling up on the cord from top of head which caused the roller to unwind & when released would rewind itself causing the toy to roll forward. It will not work now & roller needs to be reconnected to underside. Otherwise excellent condition. 121519/19XE(1) See my other eBay BUY IT NOW sales for more vintage 1930s comic character toys & figural & other collectibles including some Disneyana.___
