Here's a neat old 3 handle NC pot with the Sunset Mountain Pottery stamp. Made by Waymon Cole at JB Cole, the vase is circa 1929-1935. I think this vase was supposed to be the old Antique Chrome Red glaze, but fired out to a gray and cream color instead. When you look down inside the pot, you can see the chrome red down in the very bottom. It almost certainly was intended to come out red, with green and white "flambe" runs. Looks like it might have been in a hot spot in the kiln, as there are a number of small glaze pops on one side. The vase is in pretty good condition, but there is a small chip to the interior rim (5th pic) and a kiln drying line in the rim (last pic). Only part of the impressed stamp is visible, but you can clearly make the SUNSET. Yeah, it's a bit of a misfire, but it's still an unusual and somewhat attractive color combination. Vase stands 6.5" tall by 7" in diameter. Vase ships USPS Priority Insured Mail. Thanks for looking, and good luck should you choose to bid on it. Ed
