This is a Majolica style tea pot made by J E Jeffords/Philadelphia Pottery. The piece is circa 1880-90, the Jeffords works operated from 1868 to about 1910. First, the bad news: the lid on the pot matches but is somewhat undersized; it likely came from a covered sugar that originally accompanied the pot. It also has a slightly different shade of glaze. It does have a neat acorn finial, though, which adds to the appeal of the pot. The overall design is a Majolica basket weave with a garland of oak leaves and acorns around the lid. The pot has glaze crazing. It measures 8" from apout to handle and 8" tall. T are no chips although t is some glaze wear on the lip of the spout. All in all, for a 125 year pot it is in good condition and very interesting. No reserve! Reasonable minimum price! Reasonable shipping rates! Please check our other eBay listings.
