This is a lovely seascape by the important School of Paris painter Jean Bazaine. It is a lithograph, signed and numbered in pencil. The image is 14 1/2" x 18," inside the thin mat. The work is in an appropriate blond wood frame which measures 16 3/4" x 20 3/4." It also in protected by plexiglas rather than glass. The work is signed in pencil and dated '57 lower right and is numbered 132/150 lower left. It is in fine condition.The only issues are a very small tan spot(photo #5) in the upper right, which is not very noticeable, and has no central dark area and thus, I think it is native to the paper rather than a mold issue. There is a 1" vertical line in the lower center(photo #6) which could be ink or a tiny cut that occurred during printing. I had to use a magnifying glass to inspect it. Otherwise it is in excellent condition. Jean Bazaine was born in 1904. He attended the Académie Julian in 1922 and later worked with the sculptor Paul Landowski. He studied Art history at the Sorbonne and began to paint in 1924, drawing at the Louvre or from nature. Following his first exhibition, held in 1932, he received strong encouragement from Bonnard.
