The auction is for a RARE DVD version of the Jean Shepherd classic "Phantom of the Open Hearth."*THIS PROGRAM HAS NEVER BEEN COMMERCIALLY RELEASED IN ANY FORMAT*This is a DVD transfer from a video tape recording made from the original 76 minute PBS broadcast of December 23, 1976. That was the only time the full, unedited version aired. PBS felt that the ending scene was a bit too graphic for their audience. All subsequent airings were cut down to 60 minutes, with the offending scene removed. Thisprogram was originally recorded on VHS (probably six-hour speed) andlater transferred to DVD. The quality is fair considering the age and recording method. The audio is very good.
