This is an authentic huge bronze American Institute for Public Service National Jefferson Award Medal in Near Mint condition. The American Institute for Public Service was created in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft Jr. and Sam Beard. The public foundation established the Jefferson Awards, a Nobel Prize for community and public service. The Jefferson Awards are a well respected recognition system honoring individuals who perform community and public service. This huge National Jefferson Award medal measures a big 2 1/2 inches in diameter and nearly a 1/4 inch thick. It is very detailed and nice and heavy. On the obverse it shows the seal of the United States of America and reads, "American Institute for Public Service Jefferson Award". On the reverse, it reads, "In recognition of Outstading Public Service", and shows the signatures of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Senator Robert Taft Jr. and Samuel S Beard. It is marked BRONZE on the edge. We found this at an estate sale in San Antonio Texas. The previous owner was a collector of American medal and really took great care of his items and it shows in the great condition of this medal. This are impossible to find.
