This is a Wonderful walnut 100% All-Original 8 DAY DOUBLE DOOR Ogee shelf clock made circa 1840s. It was made by the Jerome and Co. Jerome & Co was one of the largest makers of clocks for a few years – then went out of business – was taken over by the New Haven Clock Co. in about 1850. This clock has all of its original parts (rare - see pictures), has the original top and bottom glass with the reverse painted picture nearly 100% there, (EXTREMELY RARE) (has some minor flaking– still looks great) the original movement, original doors (double door ogees are extremely rare), the original back with the original 100% label on the inside, the original pulleys, the original weights and the original dial in outstanding condition! Even has the original pendulum. Usually the top glass has been broken and the bottom glass has long since flaked off or been broken. Remember this clock was made 20 years before the Civil War! It is believed that less than 2% have survived to this day with most not in very good condition. The case is in very beautiful condition and has beautiful dark finish walnut with a beautiful grain. The sides and back of the case are great. The clock works perfectly and keeps very good time. It has an 8 day (very rare as most ogee clocks are 30 hour) time and strike movement.
