If you've always wanted one of these but were afraid to take the risk - your wait is over. I took the risk for you and with the help of a Certified Maker of Clocks - name on request - brought this pinwheel to the pinnacle of perfection. All machine work was done by him. I set it up, made necessary adjustments, and tested it for over a month. Unbelievable as it is, these old - yes it IS old - this was not made in China last year - These old movements are almost competition for an electric clock, providing split second accuracy over very long periods. Suspension is ready to hang pendulum. I found it very reliable on a mere six pounds. However I tested with only a six pound pendulum. As you know, these can swing extremely heavy pendulums and the heavier the pendulum - the more accurate it is and of course, a MUCH heavier pendulum will require a LITTLE more weight but not much more. Test was without a pulley. Most do not use a pulley. Yep. Seconds beat and a one meter pendulum length, which actually is nearly four foot with the bob. I include a reproduction sweep second hand that is very nice. It will need thinned and a bushing made for it. This one uses a pipe mount for the sweep.
