Up for bid is a rare and large Turneaureite specimen from the Zinc Company of America Number 4 mine in Balmat New York. The Turneaureite fluoresces bright Orange under SW UV. Turneaureite was found at the ZCA #4 mine in the late 1980s and early 1990s and there has not been any available since. This specimen comes from old dealer stock and is one of the largest Turneaureites I have for sale. The ZCA No. 4 Mine is the type locality of the very rare nonfluorescent mineral Donpeacorite. Based on comparisons to the Type specimen of Donpeacorite in the University of Michigan collection. (See picture on Mindat) it looks like the specimen in this auction may contain some Donpeacorite. However I am not clear on exactly which Brown” mineral is the Donpeacorite. In some Mindat pictures they say Donpeacorite is the darker brown and in others lighter brown. Please see the daylight pictures in this auction and judge for yourself.Description: Turneaureite (FL Orange SW) Location: ZCA No. 4 Mine, Balmat, St. Lawrence County, NY, USA Size: 3.6" x 2.2" x 1.3" Weight: 8 ozContact me if you have any questions.
