This "Johnnie" Johnson RAF Spitfire Mk IX model is crafted with all the markings of the original. It was purchased from ModelWorks. I believe it was made in the Philipines for them. ModelWorks makes finely crafted airplanes of wood, sanding, carving and modeling them to their original form. They ensured exactness and precision based on the original airplane. The paint scheme and markings are extremely accurate and precise, depicting the true original "Johnnie" Johnson Spitfire Mk IX. It comes with a durable base with a chrome steel support mounting rod.This Spitfire Mk IX was flown by "Johnnie" Johnson for the RAF against the Germans in WW2. "Johnnie" Johnson participated in the Battle of Normandy, Battle of the Bulge and the Western Allied invasion of Germany. He was a RAF flyng ace.The model airplane measures 15" long x 18" wingspan. It is in excellent condition. Used only for display.The airplane will be shipped in its original foam padded box.Also included is a variable pitch mounting bracket which will allow the airplane to be displayed either hanging on the wall or the ceiling.
