A rare original manuscript retained copy of a recommendation written by JONATHAN BELCHER [1710-1776] in support of the appointment of John Cunningham as Commissioner of Indian Affairs for Nova Scotia, circa 1762. Written entirely in the hand of Belcher, but not signed by him....Belcher was born in Boston to a prominent New England family, his father having served as Governor of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and New Jersey. He studied at Harvard, Princeton and London Middle Bar, and became a prominent lawyer spending many years in England He was appointed Chief Justice and Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Nova Scotia, where he died on the eve of the American Revolution........One page, size 5" x 7 3/4", blank reverse, hand made rag paper, folds, very good condition [see scan],........Guaranteed original.....$5.00 shipping............Over forty five years in business. 14 day return.
