Joseph Priestley ~ Framed Period Print ~ Resembles Dr. Joseph PriestleyI found this years ago at an antique shop in the town of Northumberland, PA and it put me in mind of that town's most famous resident, Dr. Joseph Priestley. Amongst his accomplishments was the discovery of oxygen and his 18th century house and laboratory still stand there as a state historic site. It may not be him but the gent sure bears similarity to him. It is a period print that was framed in a period mahogany frame which measures 7 & 3/4" x 6 & 1/2". Someone sealed it in with what looks like a cardboard back. The finish has some spotty loss to varnish as well as age cracks. (See photos) It comes from a smoke-free, pet-free home.
