The bottle is smooth, clear and of a quality that would allow you to drink milk from it today. This is NOT a dirty, chipped or cloudy bottle. Please ZOOM in on the photos to see the incredible quality and condition.I really like the simple, classy design. Sometimes simple is best and this bottle personifies that concept. JUDSON DAIRY FRANKLIN, PA is embossed in the glass an it really shines and sparkles.I believe Thatcher Manufacturing Corporation made this bottle for Judson. Thatcher was a major supplier of glass bottles way back when. I say this because you can see the TMC mark on the bottom edge in photo 3.On the bottom is a bold J too.Joseph B. Judson started delivering milk by horse and wagon after he bought a farm by his in-laws on Bully Hill in 1916. Judson Dairy was established in Franklin, Pennsylvania on the corner of Third and Buffalo Street. The dairy operated from 1918 to 1960 and sold milk, buttermilk, sour cream, and ultimately ice cream. Judson Dairy delivered most of its own milk in Franklin, Oil City, Knox and Polk. Farms around Hannaville sold their milk to Judson and he bottle and marketed the product. Glass bottles were used and empties were collected with each delivery. read more
